Who are we?

 

Pop-Up Portraits are NZ’s most trusted family portrait company. Every weekend throughout NZ, our photographers are capturing memories of all generations of kiwi families from family portraits to sibling shots as well as individual children.

We have many freelance photographers who work for us and due to the popularity of our photoshoots, we're in search of more!

 

Who are we looking for?

 

We are searching for self employed photographers who work well with families, young and old. You should be a people person who values high quality work and will go the extra mile to produce quality lasting memories for our customers. You should be well organised and punctual with a professional approach to dealing with customers. 

An understanding of studio based photography is a must and you’ll be competent in setting up a studio, getting the lighting and white balance correct and dealing with technical issues should they arise during the shoot. 

 

What we offer

 

We offer hassle free shoots that are fully organised and planned in advance for you. You simply have to turn up at the venue at the set date/time, set up your studio and shoot the families on the pre planned booking list provided. Once the shoot is complete, you upload your edited photos to our portal and you're finished. We take care of all customer enquiries, bookings, sales etc. 

A great way to enjoy your love of photography without the hassel of business admin! 

 

How it all works

 

You are contacted 4-6 weeks prior to a planned shoot in your area and asked if you are available and want the shoot. If you agree and accept the shoot, we lock it for you. If you can’t make that date it will be passed to another photographer in the area.

The week before the shoot, we will send you the booking list and schedule for the day. 

Depending on the quantity of families booked in the shoot days can vary in length but typically you’ll be needed for a minimum of 5-6 hours. On bigger shoots, this can increase to 10+ hours, so days can be long but they totally fun! 

Once you have completed the shoot, you then edit the selected photos you want to submit and upload to our portal. On a typical shoot we like to offer the families a good variety of poses with between 20-30 images from their session in their final collection. 

Once your images are submitted, we do the rest, making them available to the families and handling all sales enquires. 

You will be paid for the hours allocated for the shoot + setup + pack down + editing. 

How often will I work?

 

That's up to you in many ways. Because we have shoots happening every Saturday and Sunday you can work for us on a weekly basis, fortnightly, or just a couple of shoots a month. It's a great way for you to supplement your income in your down time or get regular work to pay those bills!

 

How do we decide which photographer gets the job?

 

Usually it's down to geography, we like to keep the shoots as close as possible to the photographer. But other factors will come into play such as the quality of your photos, reliability, the feedback we get from customers, the efficiency of how well you work etc.
