About Us

Pop-Up Portraits is a family run business which combines our passion for photography with our community ethos. 

We believe in afforability and sustainability in everything we do.

Our Pop-Up Studio travels with our photography team, allowing us to capture family portraits in even the most remote areas of New Zealand as well as the bigger towns and cities whilst our competitive pricing ensures great value for money. Many of our photoshoots are fundraisers - allowing us to give back to the community groups, schools, sports groups and other organisations that host us.

Our $20 family portraits are a waste-free experience so there are no pre-printed materials and our carbon footprint is as small as possible.

Our office is a re-purposed shipping container that offers a unique space for our business to operate in. The space is completely solar powered whilst being fully insulated for comfort and energy savings. All water used is rain water collected from the roof whilst our bathroom facilities include a composting toilet.

We also strive to work with other companies who share our eco-friendly ethos. We are fortunate to use Queensberry for all our photographic prints. This New Zealand based professional print lab shares our green creditials whilst offering stunning prints, canvases and more - find out how they operate in a sustainable way here.

Who we are

I'm Danie, the owner and one of the photographry team here at Pop-Up Portraits.

I'm mainly based on the beautiful South Island but as one of the travelling photographry team, you'll often see me in other areas too.

I combine my passion for photography and children into a unique studio experience for you. I'm loud, bubbly and according to my own children, a little crazy! I can assure you that you will enjoy a fun, laughter filled photoshoot and have beautiful portraits to treasure forever if you come along to any of my Pop-Up Portrait events.

I'm Tanya and I do photoshoots throughout Taranaki!

I come from a Fine Arts background but love photography as much as I love painting. People and Flowers are my absolute favorite subject matter in both art forms.
I find a lot of peace wandering around the flower gardens of New Plymouth with my camera but I equally love the fun and excitement of doing family photoshoots. It's a real joy to capture those special moments that families will cherish for years to come.
